Advice from Irish Women Entrepreneurs

Top advice from Female founders and investors

Last week the first Female Founders Forum was hosted in Dublin by Silicon Republic with a view to exploring the future of investment in female-led high-potential start-ups in Ireland with entrepreneurs, investors and female leaders.

A packed room in the Guinness Storehouse heard from guest speakers including Julia Hartz, co-founder and president of Eventbrite, and Anne Ravanona, founder and CEO of Global Invest Her. And each keynote speech was followed by a panel discussion. Speaking during the discussions were leading female entrepreneurs Grainne Barron (founder and CEO of Viddyad), Leonora O’Brien (founder and CEO of Pharmapod) and Sonya Lennon (co-founder of Frockadvisor), and Dropbox Dublin’s online sales and operations lead Geraldine MacCarthy.

A second panel focused on investment and venture capital and among the speakers here were Dr Ena Prosser (a partner at Fountain Healthcare Partners), Dr Helen McBreen (venture leader at NDRC), John Kenny (an associate at Delta Partners’ London office) and John O’Sullivan (director of ACT Venture Capital). A speech from Enterprise Ireland CEO Julie Sinnamon closed off the day.

It is heartening to realise that so many top entrepreneurs were not just Irish but female and their advice and insight is key for any business. A infographic pulling together all the key thoughts of the day was put together by graphic harvesting team at Think Visual.
