We would warn anyone to lookout for a domain registration scam from “DNS Ireland” (specifically https://goo.gl/GLbUjm).
DNS Ireland are targeting Irish businesses with a domain registration scam. The company claims to be “founded in 2009 in the heart of Dublin”, however, their website domain was only registered in August 2018 and their directors are based in the Netherlands.
If you are contacted by “DNS Ireland” or “EU Internet Group Ltd”, please delete the message, do NOT reply to it, and definitely do NOT make any payment to these scammers.
This type of scam usually originates from China and it’s unusual to see a website pretending to operate from Ireland. The scam urges you to make a payment to stop someone else registering a domain name similar to your website address. This is not genuine! Domain names are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and a reputable domain provider would not contact you in this way.
Our thanks to Spiral Hosting for this warning.
