Absolutely love it when a plan… falls apart??
Don’t you love it when a plan… falls apart?? Bear with me!
Yesterday something really interesting happened.
Content Blast (kinda!)
Our monthly Content Blast call was planned for Nurture IT members, with nobody signed up who hadn’t already been on one (or a few!) of those previously.
Before the call, I was driving, which as we all know is second only to the shower as a source of great ideas (or is that just me!?). And as I drove back my mind went to the call and I decided to shake things up a little.
This happened because I know my members and I’m interested in them – as well as their business, marketing, tech, etc.
We started the call as usual and at the point where we would usually work through the Content Blast framework I asked whether content was being posted successfully.
I had to quickly add a reminder that I don’t do criticism or judgement, I was simply curious, because the guilt was palpable.
But the no was exactly what I expected.

When a Plan is Stalled
I know they are as busy as I am and time is scarce.
Also. the idea of planning, creating and posting content can feel scary.
All of that is standard and a big part of the reason for Nurture IT and these Content Blast sessions, to create a space where I can offer structure, accountability and tons of support so we can overcome some of the hurdles and actually get the thing done.
Recalculating Route
This time was different though.
I know that there has been a focus in the group recently on clarifying offers, messaging, and even overall business strategy.
Planning content is extra difficult in that situation, which meant that it felt counter-productive to go through the Content Blast process at that point in time.
So I suggested another option (and those two words are important – suggested and option – I was floating an idea and happy to go with whatever the preference was)
The option was to spend our time on that strategy and clarity piece of work, instead. And the response was a pretty definite “yes”!
Collaboration → Better Strategy
From there we spent about an hour sounding out ideas, reviewing website layout and coming up with a plan.
The plan was simply a list of some initial steps which will create movement in the direction of the desired outcome. What else do we expect a plan to be, when it comes down to it??
We worked in a lovely energy, focussed on helping each other, with a combination of feedback, ideas to improve and/or simplify, and that clear view that it’s hard to find for ourselves.
Progress was made, pieces started to fall into place, the impossible task started to feel possible (maybe even manageable!) as we could see the overall task break into individual steps and change from a vague idea to a tangible aim.
What do you think?
Are you a “Plan A” until there is no “Plan A” person, once the course is set you don’t even see the alternative routes?
Or do you prefer to go with your gut and divert to “Plan B” (or even “Plan X”) if you feel it will give you a better result?
Need some of this?
If this kind of support and collaboration feels like exactly what you need, check out Nurture IT.
Try it out, you’ll never know until you give it a go!
I bet you will surprise yourself with what you can do!
